A Summer School and Workshop on Oceanography, Lakes and Rivers will be held at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon (Portugal) on July 19-24, 2004. The events aim at promoting the communication and interactions between the specialists working on different frontiers of Oceanography. They are included in the activities of the 2004 CIM Thematic Term on Mathematics and the Environment.

A Summer School on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate Dynamics will be held at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon (Portugal) on July 12-16, 2004. It is included in the activities of the 2004 CIM Thematic Term on Mathematics and the Environment.

A Workshop on Forest Fires will take palce at the University of Coimbra in Portugal on June 3-5, 2004. The workshop is one of the events of the 2004 CIM Thematic Term on Mathematics and the Environment.

The collaborative research center (SFB) 611 at the University of Bonn
and the research center caesar will hold a workshop, in August, 4th
to 6th, 2003 on "Continuum Models for Epitaxial Growth". In order to
describe epitaxial thin film growth a large variety of continuum
models at different time and length scales have been derived. The
workshop concentrates on bridging the gap between this different
models, with a special focus on BCF and its variants. We will bring
together experts from different communities to report about the
state-of-the-art of modelling epitaxial growth with the aim to
combine microscopic film properties with macroscopic growth process
conditions. The symposium will take place in Bonn, in the newly built
research center caesar. Thin film growth is presently one of the key
research areas of caesar.

The Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in cooperation with the Ukrainian Mathematical Society, the Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis & Stochastics, the Steklov Institute of Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Donetsk National University will organize the International Conference "Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations".
